Actually I think you are embarking down a very slippery slope if in a ftf game you call a director to the table and accuse someone of cheating. You might find yourself shown the ACBL door.

I believe the proper procedure is to file a report with the Recorder, who handles such delicate matters a little more discretely.

Yes agree.

Similar to this, I recently had a hand in ftf Kx Ax KQxx KJTxx. We were white, they were red. LHO opened 3H, partner passed, RHO thought it over for about 5 seconds, put his hand on the pass card, took his hand off of it, put his hand back on it, pulled it out, put it on the table, waited a couple of seconds, then released it. I did not know who RHO was at all, and his act was convincing so I passed. Dummy was J98xxx x xxxx Qx. When dummy hit I was really about to flip out and both opponents denied that any of this happened. I was going to call the director but really what am I going to say, RHO cheated and is now lying about it along with his partner? I just took my zero and filed a recorder form.

stupidity is allowed at the bridge table as well as on the BBF forums.

I am relieved to hear that :)

You would only call the director if you had reasons to suspect that the opponents were cheating.

Cheating is a strong word. People may take advantage of UI subconsciously, or they may not be aware of the rules. I wouldn't call that cheating but it still warrants a TD call.

do those do any good? I mean. people like you are aware of them, but how many times is a pair like this going to play against someone both knowledgeable enough to notice irregularities and aware enough to file a form?
