I passed first..you never know that 3H is passed out.You bid 4NT now at this vulnerability?
jtfanclub
No. Not at this vulnerability. Besides, it's very possible that your partner's sitting there with 4 hearts and can beat it even without the AK of diamonds.
Rossoneri
Hand seems too weak for a 4NT even in balancing seat.
han
It would be crazy to bid 4NT at these colors imo. Partner is a passed hand and would need a perfecto just to go -200.
bid_em_up
I think if you are going to take a call, double will work better than 4N. jmoo.
P_Marlowe
#1 Pass over 3H is correct, you are red / they are green, maybe the actual oppoenents will let you play without a X, but I doubt a lot will#2 Now pass as well, make it green vs. red and we can talk about 4NT now, since partner is a passed hand, and since green vs. red you can go -3, 4NT becomes an option. With kind regardsMarlowe
Echognome
All kinds of great things can happen if don't pass. 1) Opponents may think we have some incredible shape and compete unnecessarily a level too high.2) Opponents may not understand the concept of "vulnerability" and bid on.3) Opponents may laugh so hard when we go for 1700 that they lose concentration on the next two boards.4) This may be a great way to get rid of partner who keeps insisting on playing with us.5) We can try out the great excuse "I had two of my spades mixed in with my clubs and I thought I was 1=0=5=7." kgr
All kinds of great things can happen if don't pass. 1) Opponents may think we have some incredible shape and compete unnecessarily a level too high. That was kind of insurance I took with my 4NT bid. These Opps will not always decide correctly after it.
