Winstonm
You may want to look at Unusual versus Unusual. Here is a link: http://bridgehands.com/U/Unusual_Versus_Unusual.htm
han
I like the auction until 3NT, I think north has a clear pass. The double of 3C is penalty and north has no reason to pull it. Unusual over unusual is a good convention to know for (upcoming) advanced players.
kfay
North should totally pass. Double of 2NT followed by double of 3♣ is penalty. What's not to like about Jx? Also, on the bidding I definitely wouldn't bet on this contract making.
P_Marlowe
Hi, #1 unusal vs. unusual was already mentioned#2 double of 2NT could show either a hand, which is interested in making a penalty double against one suit shown by 2NT, hence would create a forcing pass situation, or you could play it as showing a bal. hand with +11HCP, we play the later. A delayed double, i.e. the guy direct behing the 2NT passed first would be for t/o. With kind regardsMarlowe PS: As others hav said, North should pass the double, the only justification for bidding 3NT is, that North may have feared not getting enough vs. a vulnerable game, althoughI dont think he as reason to fear this, since he cant be surethat game is making, ... he should remember the saying that"a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". Guest Jlall
Great auction until north removed the double. You were getting them for a big number.
jtfanclub
I am sympathetic to the pull due to the vulnerability. I still wouldn't do it...partner knows the vulnerability too!
skjaeran
I am sympathetic to the pull due to the vulnerability. Ehh, why?? Even vulnerable you need some TRICKS to make 3NT. Look at your hand - where do you find the tricks to make 3NT??? You've got ♠Kxx and an empty heart suit. What you DO have is defence. So defend. That's even what partner has told you to do! rogerclee
I am sympathetic to the pull due to the vulnerability. If my partner pulled my double on this hand, I would launch him directly into the sun.
jillybean
Ive played a little uns vs. uns with Richard a while back. I wasnt sure this was worth a gf ♠ bid, I should go back and read uns vs. uns
Mr. Dodgy
Hmmm, I play UvU, and this hand still feels like a bit if a 'tweener... X for penalty with ♣AKxx?GF with ♠s, considering the utter lack of support for P's ♥s and, indeed, less than stellar suit? I'll have to concur with the other posters, South's doubles are OK, North should trust and pass 3♣X. Not convinced we're beating it by 2 though, and we might be missing a game, so I'm not really sure, as usual.
Guest Jlall
All, Please forget about spades! South has 4 cards in both minors, a void in partners suit, and AK A. His hand is screaming defense. It is likely he can make nothing on offense, and likely he will get a telephone number on defense.

You mean you would feel insulted if partner decided to pull our penalty double when he had Hx of trumps, KQT of their side suit, and an ace and a king, with no extra shape at all?????????? You mean that would be bad bridge?!
cherdano
Ive played a little uns vs. uns with Richard a while back. Vilgan
Perfectly bid until North decided to bid 3 NT. That is a craaaazy bid. I completely agree with the launch partner into the sun comment.
neilkaz
I am sympathetic to the pull due to the vulnerability. If my partner pulled my double on this hand, I would launch him directly into the sun. We agree :) pulling is such masterminding and displays complete lack of partnership confidence.
