Showing 55M after pard opens 1nt

Recommended Posts

Cue bid. Is 3NT needed as natural, to play, on this auction? I don't think so. So 3NT could be 6 Ace RKCB (since responder is known to be 55). Game bids in a major would be sign offs. Not sure what you should do with 4NT, unless you need 3NT to be to play.

I'm not sure an opener who has limited his hand should be making a slam try beyond game.

I think is useful for opener to be able to show slam possibility below game. With a flat, min NT opening we can just sign off in 4M.

Someone, Im sure will correct me but I don’t see any significant advantage between 1N:3* and 1N:2 2:3

After 1n:2 2:3 opener must bid 3 or 4 to identify the major and show slam interest.

There is more space available to investigate a slam as responder can cue but the first method appears to be a little less taxing on aging brain cells.

1. The 3 bid is lower.

2. The 1NT-3 gets rid of a useful response below 3NT, while there's not really an althernative good purpose for 1NT-2-2-3.

3. Opener can super-accept over 2, which can set trump much lower and allow you to explore for grand slam.

Is there any significant advantage to not using 2 then 3 for the GF both majors?

Does anybody play 1NT 2C 2D 2S as absolutely nothing 54 and was hoping to pass a major response?

Really old people. (Just kidding, but it is rather antequated an idea. LOL)

Virtually everyone in England not playing fancy methods (i.e. it's the default meaning of the sequence)
