pclayton
[hv=d=s&v=n&n=s42hat832dkjckt74&s=skq65hda732caqj63]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] You play in 6♣ after LHO overcalls 1♥. A trump is led. Plan the play. (Note: A few have seen this hand and I've altered some things to make it more interesting).
Rebound
I think I'll try this: Win with the ♣10 and lead a ♠ off to the K.If it's ducked: ♦ to the K, ♥A pitching a ♦. Then 2 round of ♦ pitching a ♠, planning to ruff 2 ♠ in dummy. If it loses: on a trump return I can't ruff all the losers so I fall back on the diamond hook. Otherwise, I can cross ruff. gnasher
♣10, spade to the king, diamond finesse.
benlessard
LHO didnt lead a H so RHO probably has a H honnor. If RHO also have the Q of D than the A of S is surely in LHO hand and the contract is doomed anyway. So you have to assume LHO has the Q of D. Low trump on trick 1. And diamond finesse right away. Then low S to the K. Im not sure but i think wasting the T of trump might be costly.
pclayton
At the table, we got to 5♣, but the trump lead wasn't found so six made easily. LHO had ♠Ax ♥KJ9xx ♦T9xx ♣xx, and didn't overcall 1♥. I think its a more interesting problem with the overcall, since it makes it likely the ♠A is offside. Note the diamond hook loses, but a ruffing squeeze works, but you need to use your dummy entries early to ruff hearts. Here's the matrix: [hv=n=shatxdkjcxx&w=shkjxdt9xxc&e=shdc&s=sxxhdaxxxca]399|300|[/hv] Leading a spade delivers a blow to West. Note the location of the ♦Q is immaterial. If West has a 4=5=2=2 pattern, a ruffing squeeze also works by ruffing diamonds through West. The trap to the hand is cashing the ♥A too early, since you have to pitch away one of your long suit threats. I can't see a way to make it if West is 3=5=3=2. Even though East holds both pointed suit threats, it seems you need the diamond finesse to work.
