1S----1Nt

2m------3H (or 3Nt)

show 5H and a fit in the minors.

That's not what that sequence shows. In fact you could have 6 or 7 hearts and a singleton in partner's minor.

GIB I think plays this sequence as a big fit for the minor saying absolutely nothing about hearts. The first time he pulled that I mean I was VERY surprised when dummy came down after a stupid auction.

Anyways. I'll go to game. I've got nothing to be ashamed. I'd make the same bid if you took away the 10 and gave me a stiff spade so I'm not going to cry over a void. I'm assuming IMPs.

I think ill try 1Nt.

1S---1Nt

2S (show a minimum for me)

so ill pass.

Why would you play in a suit in which opps have a fit, and go down when you need so little from your pard to make a game in 3NT or 4? Will your partner treat Kxxxx-Axx-J109-Ax as above minimal, and bid 2 with it?

Also, if it goes

1 - 1NT

3 - ?

wouldn't you regret you didn't mention your hearts earlier?

This is a nice hand, but the void in spades does not make it stronger, so I treat it as a limit hand.

1NT now, raise a minor and if partner happens to rebid hearts game is on.

If partner rebids spades, (yuk, but quite likely) I feel I have to pass.

For those that care about the actual deal, partner had a 6241 min and the last making contract was 3 or 4 diamonds.

Not surprising, the Forum does seem to tell us to open many minimum hcp hands with 6 cards suits but often fails to tell us what a 2/1 game force hand should be paired with that style.

Hope to see more posts with your theme, ty.

I never bid 3M invitationnal. To me its much better playing 3H as 5H and a fit in the minor. Like

1S-----1Nt

2D-----

here how likely youre going to have a hand with long H willing to play at the 3 level (in maybe a misfit) but not enough strong to GF ---VS a hand with D fit and 5 or 6H that you are willing to Gf (maybe stop in 4m if you prefer) ?

Not playing forcing Nt I even play that 3Nt = 5H a fit in the minor and a stopper in the other minor.

Its 2/1 so ive assume 1Nt forcing.

If we play forcing Nt the only time when we wont reach game is when partner got 6S and a minimum hand. (With 6S and non minimum we rebid a 3 card minor).

If we dont play 1Nt forcing then ill bid 2H and rebid 2Nt (not forcing) if that is available.
