ArcLight
Pard has at least 3 Clubs, and could have 4. I would pass, since there is no assurance pard has hearts. He could have just 1. Maybe the opps balance, which is fine with you.
matmat
I pass this. Stay low in a misfit. If p is 5=3=2=3, so be it, opps might not figure this out in the defence anyway, until it is too late for them. (my second choice would be to show preference for spades)
jtfanclub
I would bid 2♥ with a doubleton spade (2533). This...ick. Oh well. I'll go with the crowd.
rogerclee
Ok I have no idea why I said I'd pass this. I would have bid 2♥.
effervesce
This is a sticky situation. Passing or bidding 2♥ may be right, but you'd be guessing. I'd bid 2♥ as I think (could easily be wrong) that it's more likely to improve the contract than reach a worse contract. Anyone care to find out what the odds are of opener having 3 clubs vs 1 heart? andy_h
Wow, are people really passing this? I think this has gotta be one of the easiest 2H bid ever. If partner is a balanced hand (and often is) I really prefer to be in a 2H contract. He could even be a 16-17 count with 5314 or a-like and we could easily miss a cold 4H whilst we now play in 2C on our 4-3 fit (or worse!). If partner has real clubs I still don't mind being in 2H because of my lovely heart intermediates. What this 2H does is that it probably will improve the contract, keeps the auction alive if partner has an invitational range and prevents us from playing in a silly 4/3/2-3 fit (or 1-3 for ken or was it 0-3?). If partner has a distributional hand say 6-1-2-4 or something, he can still overrule us to 2S if he feels the need.

kenrexford
The precise analysis depends on structure agreements. I like for a 2♦ rebid by Opener to promise a 4-card suit. Thus, a 2♣ call could be made on a doubleton if partner has 5♠/3♥/3♦/2♣. I don't like playing in 3-2 club fits instead of a 5-3 heart fit. So, I am inclined to bid here. I like BART, as Mike suggested. 2♦ to show diamonds OR hearts, partner presuming hearts. If he has at least a doubleton heart, we end up in at least a 5-2 fit, which seems vastly superior to at least a 3-2 fit. If parter has a stiff or void in hearts, I can return to 3♣, knowing that partner has at least four clubs. I'm real willing to risk the three-level in a possible 4-3 club fit to take out insurance against missing a possible 5-3 heart fit and against playing the possible 3-2 club fit. skjaeran
Playing 1NT as NF, I'm really not into this discussion. In my environment this is a clear pass. Playing a forcing 1NT it's obviously a different matter. I'd think 2♥ would be best in the long run, but that's not totally clear to me. jillybean
In case of any confusion, I was playing forcing 1nt
P_Marlowe
Hi, No, assuming you are South. As it is, you will face a similar problem playingSAYC. 2H should promise a 6 carder, thats why thisis out, if partner showed 9 cards and you introduce a suit of your own, it showes 6.Sry, we have 3 cards for partner a shortage, thereis no reason to run / hide. With kind regardsMarlowe
