Kibitzer Box in new BBO

Recommended Posts

I think that when kibs cannot be seen by players, it will lead to some problems with stalkers. As many of you might remember, when BBO started kibs could be invisible at tables - I personally had a BIG problem with one member stalking me and making my life miserable. Not allowing players to see who is kibbing amounts to the same as being an invisible kib.

I strongly feel that players have the right to know who is "up there". Apart from some ACBL tournaments, I always host - I will now either have the "Permission Needed to Kib" ON (which necessitates disrupting a game to click 'yes' or 'no' to those wanting to kib) or alternatively I will just disallow kibs completely!!

I must have missed something, but I thought that users can't be invisible at a table. They will show in white print, but not invisible. Invisible in the lobby, yes, but not if you join a table as a player or spectator.

Yellow hosts can be invisible everywhere, but they have been asked not to use that option when at a table.

The reason we allow anonymous logins in BBOFlash is to further lower the barrier for entry for people who want to check out our site.

If you think about it, however, we have always allowed anonymous logins. Anyone can sign up for a new ID at any time and either leave their profile filled with "privates" or make up a ficticious name for themselves. So it has always been possible for stalkers intent on kibitzing a particular table or player to do so anonymously provided that the "permission required to kibitz" is turned off.

Note that anonymous users cannot even ask permission to kibitz at a table if "permission required to kibitz" is turned on - you can therefore keep these people away from your table if their presence bothers you. Note also that anonymous users cannot chat so really there is no way for these people to harass you.
