rich_wil
A problem with the new browser based version - the ad server has higher priority than a number of essential services. Examples: When opponents claim, it continues to refresh ads but does not display "accept claim" option. Eventually server times out the attempt to claim and play resumes. Similarly, results are not displayed at tournament end and no update is done of active tables screen. Attempting to join tables shown as active will bring error message - "Cannot join table". The only way to get tourney results is to back out and re-enter tourney.
fred
The servers that are involved in delivering ads are completely separate from the servers that are involved in making BBO work. The performance of one has nothing to do with the performance of the other. This is the first I have heard of any claim-related problems. If you can provide more details (and especially if you can send a screenshot to fred@bridgebase.com) that would be very helpful. Things I would like to know: - do you see a notification that a claim has been made?- do you see buttons for accepting/rejecting the claim?- does this happen every time there is a claim or only sometimes? Assuming there really is a bug here I will try to fix it as soon as possible, but that may be longer than usual since I have just started playing in a long tournament. We have intentionally decided not to automatically refresh table lists. The reasons are complicated so I am not going to try to explain them now. You can refresh the list yourself via the Refresh button at the top of the list. Perhaps at some point in the future we will implement some kind of limited auto-refresh. Your board-by-board tournament results will be delivered automatically after all the tables in the tournament have finished playing. rich_wil
Seperate servers but the problem is one of priority - I am using an older laptop so not especially fast. When an opponent claims - the system reveals all hands and then nothing further happens. My screen reports continuously "getting data from add server" . No button to accept claim is shown. Chat continues to be shown so I can see my opponents comments on the delay. Again when I complete a tourney, I am as I expect, in the tournament area with the ongoing tables shown. However, none of this updates from this point forward. I cannot go to any of the tables. No tourney results are posted. "Getting data from ad server" comes on repeatedly. fred
It sounds to me like you are using Firefox and that for some reason claims are causing one of the components in the application to stop functioning. To the best of my knowledge you are the only person who has ever reported a problem like this in recent months. If it was happening to more than a handful of people I certainly would have heard about it by now. If I am correct then I suggest you switch to Internet Explorer until I have a chance to look into this further (probably not for another 10 days or so). Also make sure you are using the latest version (you can do this by using the link on our home page - www.bridgebase.com) and not one of the beta links that you saw in this thread. If you were using an old version please let me know so that I don't spend a lot of time chasing down a problem that no longer exists. I can assure you that the problems you are experiencing has nothing to do with the ads. Since I am the one who actually wrote the program I am in a strong position to make this claim.
