You also play intermediate jump overcalls so your 1♥ could be on a weak 2. First of all, do you X or pass? 2ndly, how do you expect partner to react to each of these bids. gnasher Posted July 16, 2008 Report Share Posted July 16, 2008 Pass seems obvious. I have no reason to think either that we were making 4♥ or that 5♦ is going down. If I double, I expect him to pass almost all of the time; if I pass, I expect him to pass most of the time, but to bid 5♥ with a very offensive hand. If he does bid 5♥, he may well be right. Yes, it may make but I've seen too many +100/150 instead of +300/500 to let this one slide. I'm willing to concede to a making contract and expect to come out ahead even in the short run.
