What is best play in 6H?

I duck the opening lead. If RHO wins, I think I'm pretty much down to the diamond finesse to make. But if the Q wins, I play 1 round of trump, A and out a club. I can win any return, ruff my last club with the J, then draw trump. I lead a diamond to the A, and pitch my last diamond on the A.

If opp's return after winning the club is a diamond from my left, I will have to cash the A for the diamond pitch before drawing the rest of the trump.

If there's a way to make by going up A on the opening lead that doesn't require the diamond finesse, it's beyond me. So I think the added chance LHO lead away from the K is enough reason to duck, however unlikely it may be.

If I lose to the K I hope to get to this ending:

7

---

AQ

---

---

x

x

J

And if nothing interesting has happened (or happens after playing the last heart) I finesse in Diamonds.

There is an alternative, which is to play for LHO to have led from 1098xx in spades, or the diamond finesse. Ace of spades, S ruff (high), heart to dummy, S ruff, then concede a club.

This also goes wrong if hearts are 3-0 because they can play the 3rd trump after winning the club, so I will also run the spade lead. RHO wins the King and plays a club back (say). Now as Hanoi says you win the ace, draw two trumps ending on dummy. If both follow you cash the AJ of spades discarding a diamond and a club, then run trumps (if hearts are 3-0 you probably just take the diamond finesse in due course).

You would like to have a double squeeze in the end position, but you don't have the entries. If RHO doesn't return a club after winning the SK you are much better off. If he returns a trump (say) you will have this 4 card ending

now if the spade menace is on your left you can cash the last heart and make as long as you read the position

Thanks all for the answers. Diamond Q and 5 card was in West hand, so actaul hands not that interesting.

I wondered if some kind of double squeeze was possible

Seems like impossible to read the possition..Isn't it (Is that somewhat related to double squeezes)?

Maybe that makes Hanoi's position better in practice?
