Partner's failure to crack 3D is worrisome, but on the other hand this will be our only shot to be in and do something useful. I just see partner squirming on the run of the whatevers, and then getting squeezed, and then getting endplayed. A diamond doesn't seem particularly risky and hopefully it can get something going.

I led a diamond as well, prepare for a nightmare :rolleyes:

I didn't have the time to check out the heart lie out, but on a diamond 9 lead, you stablish dummy's 5th suit, and at the same time you keep the key entry for the 6 card suit as well, declarer quickly claims 12 tricks.

 

If declarer had something like AQ9xx I think on a spade lead he would rate to go around 3 down, this means a diamond lead had given them 'just' 7 tricks. Arguably the 'worst' lead of my life :)
