rogerclee
IMPs, Red vs White ♠Qx ♥Kxxxxx ♦98 ♣Qxx The opponents, starting on your right, bid 1♠ - 2♠ ; 4♠ - P. Lead?
Echognome
A bit blind, but I will churn the gnome lead and go with a small club at imps. Leading the heart seems too risky to take no tricks in that suit. Leading a doubleton with Qx in trumps doesn't seem all that attractive either. mikeh
This is as close to a pure guess as I have seen in a while, apart from the obvious: we don' t lead a trump. I usually make aggressive leads unless I have a clue that it is time to go passive. I'm not sure how much of a clue I have (in life, bridge and specifically this hand) but I am going passive.. diamond 9. I have too many hearts... the odds are that if I blow a trick on the lead, it isn't coming back in that suit. The other lead is the club, and that picks up too many holdings in partner's hand for me to want to do this at trick one. The diamond is, clearly, not exactly perfect either, but I think it is less dangerous than the others. I'd be more inclined to be aggressive if my trump were xx. ArtK78
I lead a heart. While it is certainly true that if I give up a trick by leading a heart, the trick is not likely to come back, it is also true that if we have any heart tricks to take they could be going away quickly if I don't lead one at trick one. rogerclee
I feel pretty good about myself. This is the only lead problem I've ever seen where the first four people all led four different suits.
andy_h
Sign me up for a diamond, something passive.
han
My order of preference: club, diamonds, other. I think a heart lead from Kxxxxx is really not appealing.
Guest Jlall
My preference would be diamond, other. I don't even think it's that close.

This is the only lead problem I've ever seen where the first four people all led four different suits. I wondered if you would catch that. I couldn't come up with a good reason for a spade lead, so I just tossed out the symbol. LOL

Sorry :(. Club is probably easiest for declarer to get right, but he is never going down on any halfway reasonable line.

But seriously, I'd lead ♦ as all the other honor holdings bother me, especially when I have so little information.
