awm
Why would I bid 3♥? Isn't this just asking to be stuck with the auction at the five-level when it comes back to me? I don't even want a heart lead against 3NT (spade lead should be fine). I can see bidding 4♥ if it's a fit jump, or 4♣ if it's a splinter, or a normal 4♠ call. But 3♥ just seems... weird. effervesce
I'd prefer 3♥. 10 tricks is a long way if we can't bring in those hearts, or have too much wasted values in clubs.

nige1
All vul, Imps. Opps are silent. ♠Kxxxx ♥KTxxx ♦xx ♣x1♣ - 1♠ - 2♠ - ? IMO 3♥=10, 4♠=7, 3♠=6, _P = 5.If partner has ♠Axxx ♥Ax ♦xxx ♣Kxxxgame is reasonable at imps.

ochinko
4♠ Game isn't certain, but I am sure I want to be in one. 7 losers hand, few but good and well placed points, extra trump, additional suit promising extra tricks, plus we are vulnerable at IMPs which begs for more pushing. There are so many hands from partner that would produce a game. My hopes would be higher only if partner has opened 1♦. I think a ♥ lead is preferable to a ♦ one so I wouldn't consider 3♥. If I was about to search for a slam, then 3♥ would have some merit, but I am not that ambitious.

benlessard
Pass here. For me parter will often make 3 cards raise here.
brianshark
4♠ for me. It's a punt but I'm keeping opponents in the dark. It may take a non ♠ lead to prevent 10 tricks.
Finch
I really don't get the game bidders. For every Axxx Ax xxx Axxx in partner's hand, there's a Qxx x Kxxx AKJxx where game is dire To me this is either a 3H bid or a pass. Pass is normal, but 3H might pick up a super-suitable hand. If we play weak NT a game try makes more sense. If you pass smoothly and LHO protects, partner might bid again with 4 trumps...
pclayton
You may or may not recognize this hand. It was Declarer's hand in Sathya's defense to 4♠ discussion where you held ♦KQxxx and had to work out if partner has ♦Jx or ♦Jxx. Also, the Sathya's partner admits he made a mistake by returning the J. FWIW, the hand was played at MPS, although I was discussing the problem with someone on what the best call is at IMPs. 4♠ does seem rich, but I think an invite is fine. Fluffy
looks like one of those hands where knowing that partner has a 4th spade for sure is a big info . at my normal MP's weak field I'd just pass to play the same than the other point counters, at IMPs this looks like an invite. Guest Jlall
I really don't get the game bidders. Agree. I think bidding game is horrible, and bidding 3H is much less bad. looks like one of those hands where knowing that partner has a 4th spade for sure is a big info Agree with this too. If partner always has 4 spades that makes inviting a MUCHHHHHHHH better bet. People who raise with 3 frequently often don't seem to acknowledge that you put a lot of pressure on responder when they have a light shapely hand. I raise with 3 a fair amount, and almost always with a stiff heart, so that makes inviting less attractive to me. I'm shocked! I thought you prefer overbidding to underbidding I prefer making the bid that will get me the best result in the long run. It is my nature in a lot of situations to think that overbidding will achieve this for me, but I really think bidding with this hand is a loser (and also depends on partners tendencies with the raise, see above). skjaeran
I agree with Frances and Justin. This hand is close between 3♥ and pass.Being a bidder, I'm pretty sure I'd chose 3♥ at the table. Not confident that it's the correct longtime choise though.
