rbforster
The auction goes like this and you're 4th to bid holding a decent heart suit - (1♠)-2♦-(2♠)-? X would be responsive for the unbid suits. 2N is undiscussed but probably natural(?). What do you bid with an invitational or game-forcing hand with hearts? - Is 3♥ forcing? If 3♥ is forcing, can you double and convert 3m to 3♥ to invite, or does that imply some other sort of hand? - What do you do with a game going hand, but when your hearts (maybe only 5 or 6 poor ones) aren't good enough to insist on strain by just bidding 4♥ yourself? kenrexford
3♥ is forcing, Double then 3♥ is not forcing Perhaps strangely, I would have assumed the opposite. I claim no authority on this, though.

Finch
3H is non-forcing and not a fit bid, it just shows hearts.Double then bid hearts with a good hand with hearts.
gnasher
3♥ is non-forcing, Double then 3♥ is forcing. This is better for two reasons: - A competitive 3♥ is much more likely to occur than a game-forcing one- When you make an off-shape takeout double, there is a risk of partner overcompeting in the suit that you have shown but don't have (clubs in this case). The stronger you are, the less this risk, and the more likely you are to be able to cope if it does occur.
