 Has anyone played the 2 opening which shows a 1 suited hand, with 5 losers, or 20-21pts? (1 suited always)... cant open 2nt, can't open 2cl, don't want to open 1 of anything, or bid 4 (he he)... responses are either negative (2h, 2nt) and the rest show aces... responder then bids his long suit..

Some feedback on this please, thanks again ;)

I play a similar structure to this as part of Benji Acol. But 2c is used for the hand you describe (actually 8 tricks in a major or 9ish in a minor), with 2d as a "normal" 2c opener.

Big balanced hands are then opened either 2NT for 19-20 (!), 2c with 2NT rebid for 21-22 and 2d followed by 2NT rebid for 23-24. Responder (nearly) always relays to 2d after the 2c opener to find out the suit / NT.

One drawback is with a really big hand with hearts, you are already at 3h once you have shown the suit.

Hi aisha!

------

Usage of 2 and 2 as strong multi opening is typical for french standard system "major francais". Now days the system change meaning of 2 and 2 as follow:

2: any strong 2, 1 suited or 20-21 bal, 2 relay for type, unless very good suit from responder

2: any GF, responses for A

If you like to read more about french 2/2, their continuations and all system (by the way very nice pure natural system), you can ask Rado to send you copy of it.
