Would partner have neg-X with good 4xS, 5xS stretching to not lose S-fit?

Yes, then I won't quit to 2C, 2D likely good spot if partner bids that, so Double.

He heard my 1H =5xH, I got 1 more. That's not to say I have good hearts AK/AQ/KJ10 6th. KQJ98 5th would bid 2H.

2H and yes its obvious. You can't double with this shape.

I don't understand why you can't double with this shape. Regardless of the kind of free-bids you play, partner has to pass with a penalty double, right ? The only time you would consider not reopening with a double is when you're looking at length is the overcalled suit, as it makes it unlikely that partner passed with a penalty double.

Because pd will bid 2S with a non penalty x hand and a 4 card S suit. I am not that keen on playing 4-2 fits.

Maybe it depends on the 2C bidder but it seems quite unlikely to me that partner has a penalty pass

So are you bidding 2 because you want to play there opposite a hand that isn't a penalty pass but couldn't take action over 2?

Yes. Pass vs 2H is closeish but I think 2H is better. I'll let you run the sim lol. Usually with 6H that arent great and Hx of clubs I think pass is right though in this situation, but here I think we have enough HCP where 2C and 2H both make often enough.

I join the chorus of the 2 Heart bidders.

This will win often when partner had no penalty pass and.

And if he had a club suit, we will end in 3 NT anyway, so no big loss. Or do you expect to earn 1100 here with your double?

If partner has a penalty double of 2, I expect it to go down lots. I have a huge hand for defence.

More likely is that partner doesn't actively want to double 2, but chooses to pass my double because he has club length and nothing better to do. Opposite as good a defensive hand as this, we might well score 500 with no game on our way.

I'm surreptitiously slipping a small club in with my spades and then doubling. I'm taking the risk of being dummy in a 4-2 spade fit, but also have the eye-on-the-prize of 2X. Also, it does not preclude me from playing in hearts.
