rogerclee
3♠. This is sort of trashy, but the alternative (pass) makes me feel way worse. I think this is close to a minimum 3♠ bid.
andy_h
3S, don't want to get shut out.
han
I hate this hand. 3S for me too, fortunately this is not forcing.
jdonn
I would just pass, don't want to hang partner. They are more likely to have game than we are imo, not that 3♠ couldn't work out in that case too.
kenrexford
I would just pass, don't want to hang partner. They are more likely to have game than we are imo, not that 3♠ couldn't work out in that case too. This is sort of interesting, because I sort of think of aproblem like this as a "who is hanging whom" problem. IMO, there is no real difference between "hanging partner" by making a really high bid on reliance that partner had full values for a prior call and thus punishing that prior aggressive bid, and the converse of making the prior call on really light values to leave partner punished for making the aggressive high-level call. In other words, whereas 3♠ could hang the 1♥ call, 1♥ could anticipatorily "hang" the 3♠ call. This sequence is why I would aggressively (insanely) opt a 2♥ overcall with shortness in spades. If deciding between a light 1♥ overcall and a five-card jump 2♥ overcall (or assing), I lokk at my suitability for supporting aggressive action in the other major. Thus, if 3♠ leads to a really bad result, I suspect that 1♥ should have been pass or 2♥.
655321
3♠. To me this is not close, even though our hand is not that great.
Codo
3 ♠ despite the fact that this is forcing.
gnasher
If I played 3♠ as forcing, this hand would cause me to change my methods.
han
I really prefer (bid)-bid-(bid)-bid to be non-forcing unless artificial.
Codo
If I played 3♠ as forcing, this hand would cause me to change my methods. Well actually I read the bidding wrong, in the given scenario 3 Spade is nonforcing.
P_Marlowe
Pass. Depending on your agreements, 3S may be interpretedas a fit bid. With kind regardsMarlowe
catch22
Partner decided to double on this hand, my third choice. I'd have bid 3S, but I thought it was close given the dubious value of the K♣. I held KTx-KT9xx-QTxxx-void
kenrexford
LOL! You opted against 2NT for the reds in part because of the nice spade fragment, but partner declined to show them with six. Typical. LOL
nige1
[hv=d=w&v=n&s=saq9654hj2d85ck53]133|100|Scoring: IMP(1C)-1H-(3C)-? 1C was natural - 3C pre-emptive Your bid?[/hv] IMO 3♠ = 10, _P = 8, _X = 6If 3♠ is forcing then it's a lottery Bidding 3♠ will attract little sympathy if it's a misfit; but it's hard to suppress a good 6 card suit.
