effervesce
1NT. Huh? 2♠ for me. If it was 3(433) I don't mind 1NT. But 4 card support?
rogerclee
I would bid 1NT playing 2/1, but I'm going to bid 2♠ playing SAYC.
655321
3♠ for me, probably not the popular choice. I don't like Pass on this hand (although it may work), but I wouldn't describe any of the plausible bids as a misbid.
andy_h
Playing 2/1, I would bid 1NT. I surely can't pass, 4333 unfav doesn't warrant a 3S for me nor do I have anything to upgrade to a 2S 8-10 constructive raise.
jdonn
1NT. 2♠ is fine. HATE 3♠.

han
Agree that 3S is not an option. The title says 2/1 btw.
jtfanclub
I have two 8s and 2 7s, what more do I need to bid 2♠? Seriously, is 8-10 in 2/1 standard? I always thought it was a good 6 to bad 10, eg. typical minimum: K98 432 QJT98 32typical maximum: K98 J43 8654 AQ5 but I'm just asking here. fromageGB
1NT My rationale goes like this :A 4333 shape 4 card support gets demoted to count as a 3 card support ; a 5 count 3 card support bids forcing next step then rebids 2 of the major. Comments on the other bids espoused :Pass is pathetic, you need to show support ; 2♠ is over the top, why risk a good hand opposite going to the 3 level for the only negative score?; 3♠ is certainly preemptive, but a pre-empt too far with this shape.
