nige1
IMPs, Red against White, Fourth Seat ♠ Ax ♥ KQ9x ♦ AK8x ♣ Jxx(2♠) - Dbl - (3♠) - 4♠(P) - 5♦ - (P) - ?Agree with 4♠? Now what? IMOAgree with 4♠Now 7♦ = 10, 5♠ = 9, 6♦ = 8, 6N = 6, 7N = 5Just a guess. On a bad day, may depend on a finesse or two; but partner should be sound for immediate action and, if we trust opponents :) then we're playing with a 34 HCP deck. han
Just 6D for me.
andy_h
Grand? Guess I'm a bit pessimistic into thinking even slam might go down! xx Axx QJTxx KQx or something. My H9 could come in handy, or maybe partner will have the HJ. I think I'll just bid 6D.
Apollo81
6♦ I would give pass a higher score than 7♦
jdonn
Tough call between pass and 6♦. 5♠ seems harmless but I think convinces partner to bid bad grands. 6♦ I guess, close one.
gnasher
I'd have made a responsive double rather than bidding 4♠. Then it would have gone: (2♠) - Dbl - (3♠) - Dbl(P) - 4♦ - (P) - 4♠ and partner would have had room to cooperate, if he had a suitable hand. From where we are now, I'd bid 6♦. Halo
A puzzle. If my 4S showed two aces, then why am I not passing now? In practice I'd bid 6D, because my agreements are not quite that good.
Guest Jlall
Definitely don't agree with 4S, this hand was an easy X which keeps us a whole level lower. Now I bid 6D.

Previously, I agreed with the cue-bid :) but Justin is obviously right again: a (responsive) X is better :oRevised marks X = 10, 4♠ = 5Also, _P must get some marks over 5♦, although I would optimisticallly boot the grand :)

pclayton
I doubt I can find 6♥. I would start with a double and try 4♠ over 4♦. I imagine I would play 6♦. Did you have Hx of clubs in West or KQ in East?

Did you have Hx of clubs in West or KQ in East? On the actual play of the hand, East led the ♣K, so it was a joke. On a ♠ lead you will play side suits and find out East has 6 clubs, so there is nothing to play.
han
I think partner had a normal 4NT call.
gnasher
I think partner had a normal 4NT call. What sort of hand bids 5♦ rather than 4NT?
han
2353 would be a typical shape I think.
pclayton
I think partner had a normal 4NT call. I agree. And we would 5N (or 5♠) and play 6♦ just the same.
