Sambolino
3S, then 4D over 4C
rogerclee
I would just invite with 4♦. If partner passes this, I think we are probably high enough.
kenrexford
3♠. [Added] I think this hand is much too powerful for light action. I think that, if Leb is available, 3♠ is still and more right because of the first-round spade control.
helene_t
Don't we play Lebensohl here? If we do, would it be ridicolous to bid 3♦?
Apollo81
4♦
pclayton
3♦ if playing g/b, 4♦ otherwise.
neilkaz
3♦ if playing g/b, 4♦ otherwise. Agreed and hoping I am playing g/b2NT here
the hog
I think you mean "good/bad" Helene, not lebensohl. Playing this I bid 3D else 4D.
Guest Jlall
I would always drive to game with this hand. Is 3D forcing playing G/B?
Apollo81
I would always drive to game with this hand. Is 3D forcing playing G/B? No its not. I wonder if 4♦ is forcing playing that.
P_Marlowe
Hi, 4D. If you happen to play 2NT as some kind of Lebensohl, than it is either 3D or 2NT followed by 3D. As it is, this is certainly not standard, and the hand is too strong for a simple 3D bid. This of course assumes, that X showed both minors, and may not be based on a bal. hand with 10-12. With kind regardsMarlowe PS: 4D is certainly not forcing, but highly invitational.
gwnn
This is a hand from the European championships. I was kibbing Russia v France. Both tables doubled here, and I didn't get it.
cherdano
I don't think there is anything wrong with double. Partner won't pass it and it may give us additional information at a low level - imagine he takes it out to 3♦.
gnasher
I expect that the point of double was to bid 3♦ over partner's 3♣, showing a forcing 3♦ bid.
