oxyde
Would it be possible to include an additionnal scoring mode, IMP against calculated board par ?The optimal score for both sides can now be computed quite easily.
vang
you mean the double dummy optimal score?
NickRW
The trouble with double dummy optimal par results are two fold: 1) If the contract is off, then it is assumed to be doubled, even if it is only one off. This level of precision bidding is unrealistic on a great many hands. 2) Though DD results can be shown to be a good approximation of real table results, this is only really true over a large number of boards. On a lot of specific deals, the DD result is not really typical of contracts real players would both find and make. I tried using DD results to use as a comparison when trying to teach my kids to play - but we soon threw out the idea as often the optimal result was a contract not only we would not have found, but I felt that hardly anybody would. inquiry
the real problem is the drain on the system (servers) to calculate all the makable contracts, figure out the par one, on all the hands played on the BBO. Just running gib for the money tournaments is a drain, that is why the number of entries is limited... imagine such a drain on all the thousands of hands played every day. In addition, the agaist par result would be rather meaningless too.
