mikeh
Tough one: I bid 6♣, hoping not to play there :) I expect RHO to save much of the time that 6♣ makes, so I am, in a backhanded sort of way, hoping to catch a save and thus beat those who defend 5♦ x'd. andy_h
Tis a bit tough, but I'm opting for the low road of 5S. Not very certain RHO will always be saccing, and it just seems very likely 6C will be off. Maybe I should just take the money and x... Apollo81
I'd bid 5NT pick a slam if I knew partner would bid 6♣ with 4-3 or worse majors and 6♥ with 4-4 or better majors. If I trusted this to happen I'd do it, otherwise would bid 6♣.
Guest Jlall
6C for me also.
kenrexford
Not that it necessarily matters on this actual hand, but would 6♦ offer a choice of slams between the majors and 5NT offer a choice of slams between clubs and one of the majors? If so, 5NT might assure that we play 6♣ unless partner has four cards in BOTH majors. Then again, I'm not sure whether this would have partner try the major with 3♠/2♣. Hmmmmm. EDIT: Noticed just now that Apollo81 had the same musings...
Hanoi5
6♣, expecting to make it.
655321
6♣. The singleton diamond is not good on this auction, but even so I expect 6♣ to make a fair amount of the time.

EDIT: Noticed just now that Apollo81 had the same musings... To me, 6♦ is first round diamond control and a grand slam try in the majors. 5NT is choice of slams between two unspecified suits, initial one of them assumed to be clubs, without first round diamond control. But on this particular hand I have no interest in offering a choice of slams. If partner is 4-3 in the blacks I want to play in clubs. MickyB
I don't see how using 6D to show the majors and 5NT to show C+M helps with choosing strain. Either way, you assume initially assume 5NT shows clubs. When it comes to bidding small slams, the methods are equivalent, it's only when it comes to grand slam bidding that they differ - haven't put much thought into which method is superior. If the opponents' suit was clubs, now there would be a slight advantage to splitting up the two-suiters.
