How should this be bid, playing 2/1?(would you open unfavorable with Westst hand in 3rd seat? - If so what?) 2. Lets say the bidding goes: pass - pass - pass - 1ClubWould you overcall as East? p - p -p - 1C1D - 1S - 3D - ? 3. Was 3 Diamonds a good bid at unfavorable vulnerability? 4. What would you do as North over 3 Diamonds? (I corrected 2S to 1S, sorry)
pclayton
OK with 1♦. What's 2♠? This is a mystery (and probably a typo). I assume the auction goes 1♠ (3♦) - ? Over 3♦ I pass and bid 3♠ over a reopening double.
jdonn
P P P 1♣1♦ 1♠ 3♦ PP P is how I would bid in all seats. South is close to reopening with a double but I just believe he has enough. I mean at imps what is he really fighting for?
kenrexford
Wow. I could imagine this one being bid several different ways, always with every party being at least reasonable. 1♦-1♠-X-XX-P-P/2♠-3♦-P/3♠-all pass 1♦-2♠-3♦-3♠-all pass P-2♠-P-2NT-P-whatever-P-3♠/P P-P-1♥-P-1NT-all pass P-P-1♥-P-1NT-P-2♦-P-3♦-all pass P-P-1♥-2♣-2♦-2♠-P-P/3♠/4♠-all pass P-P-P-1♣-1♦-1♠-2/3♦-X/P-P-P/2♠/3♠-all pass P-P-P-1♣-1♦-2♠-3♦-3♠-all pass Plus, even more variations. Guest Jlall
P P P 1♣1♦ 1♠ 3♦ PP P is how I would bid in all seats. South is close to reopening with a double but I just believe he has enough. I mean at imps what is he really fighting for? Agree with josh except I don't think south is close to a reopening X. Opening the west hand r/w in third seat is too much. andy_h
my auction would goP---P-----P--1C1D-1S--3D--PP---X----P--3SAll pass NV in imps, I'd like to fight for the partscore so I would make the reopening X of 3D. I would definitely not open 1H in 3rd seat unfav. Edit: Thinking it about a bit more, probably influenced by seeing all 4 hands, I think I'd pass 3D out. With a more shapely hand partner would probably act, and it's likely we'd hit a misfit if we x. So I'll happily take the vul undertricks

xcurt
Agree that the south hand has an easy pass of 3D. +100, +140, and +200 are all the same to a first approximation at IMPs. -670 is definitely not the same at IMPs. I would not be happy with teammates that brought back 3Dx-1 on the NS cards.
P_Marlowe
#2 I am fine with 1D, but passing is not the worst choice either#3 3D was fine#4 Pass, 3S is not an option unless 1S showed a 5 carder, which some play, but this is certainly not standard With kind regardsMarlowe
