blackshoe
3NT (not gambling - we play Namyats).

rogerclee
Seems like a textbook 4♣ bid at these colors. 4NT by partner should be to play.
Guest Jlall
Agree with 4C. Some people will open 3C on hands like this in order to keep 3N in the picture, but that is not a good idea. Just try to describe your hand.
cjames
4♣ seems cool, opening 1♣ and keep rebidding and hope to get x'ed at 3.level and make could be fun as well though :) But more seriously, I would have bid 4♣.
the hog
4C if not playing Namyats. 3NT otherwise, but not keen as the suit is not solid.

zasanya
Seems like a textbook 4♣ bid at these colors. 4NT by partner should be to play. With my regular Partners' 3NT showing 8 card minor and nothing else but the colors actually bother me. andy_h
fair is foul and foul is fair...can't believe I remember that lolBut 4C for me. 2nd choice is 3C.
P_Marlowe
Hi, the choices are 3C, 3NT (if agreed as gambling)or 4C. The hand is bit too strong for a 3C bid, but not much, given that you are red vs. green in first seat. If the suit is solid is a matter of partnershipagreement, but partner wont pass 3NT with a voidin clubs, so for me the suit would be solid, but discusswith partner. The hand is bit too weak for a 4C bid, given that you are red vs. green in first seat, but not much. Most likely I would go with 4C, but dont mind 3C or 3NT. With kind regardsMarlowe
CSGibson
4♣, second choice 3N. It's a close decision for me, since both have almost equal levels of preemption, but there's just too much chance of a club slam if partner has the right hand and knows that I only have 5 outside cards (or another shape feature that convinced me to bid this way), and 5 clubs will have play almost as often as 3N when that's right, barring some lucky lead. jtfanclub
6 losers, red (-2), that's 3 clubs. Hey, I may be simple, but...mmmm, shiny.
ArtK78
I have a special agreement regarding 3 of a minor openings in 1st or 2nd seat. My regular partner suggested this treatment and told me it was an idea attributed to Barry Crane. 3 of a minor shows AQ or AK or better in the suit, preemptive. The idea is that 3 of a minor openings are not that difficult to deal with, so you might as well avoid them unless they convey specific information. With this agreement, I open 3♣. Without this agreement, anything could be right, but I suppose I would go with the majority and open 4♣, with all of its obvious flaws.
