uday
The "all lowercase" was a side effect of a bug introduced during my recent server change. I have since fixed the bug. I did think that things looked better in lowercase. Anyway: I could easily set up the server so that all names are back to lowercase. Should i ? mink
hi Uday, pro lowercase-only: You cannot distinguish between a lowercase L and an uppercase I with the font used right now. I had to guess this when subbing once. pro uppercase-allowed: easier to point out the structure of a name, e. g. InaDodd or InadOdd. If uppercase is allowed I asume that it is not significant, so that you do not have to care for upper/lower-case when typing in the name for mail or something else. Dwingo
Pro lower case. Prettier still if those underscores (_) can be removed

Hi Uday My 2 cents: Individuals should be allowed to mix upper case and lower case. As Mink notes, it allows users to differentiate between first name/last name. If their is a problem with differentiating between l and I, it might be better to address this by changing the font. Login in IDs should not be case sensitiveRichardWilley should be treated the same as richardwilley I would prefer that users still had the option of chosing "nonsensical" names such as ^^^++-++^^^ I found them amusing. uday
As of the last server update, the username and password are not case sensitive. That is, logging in with User=john or JOHNPassword=DOE or dOE or doe will work.

JRG
Funny how different personalities react to things. I thought that nonsense user-Ids were silly and irritating. Oh well...

McBruce
Many on OKBridge when I played there would use upper/lower case to distinguish between two players sharing the same account. BOBglen or bobGLEN, that sort of thing: if you prefer to play with one or the other you have no problem telling them apart. Of course, since BBO is free there is no reason for this since we all can have multiple login names. Perhaps if BBO$ become important it will become more of an issue. I like uppercase because it is clear that McBruce is some nut who has snipped a common Scotch/Irish prefix from one name to paste it on the other. Other variations might be misinterpreted: mcbruce M. C. Bruce? (Michael Bruce was ACBL Life Master #1 if I recall correctly, mayve his middle name started with C...) MCBruce Bridge rapper? MCbruce Master of Ceremonies? (Well I do direct tourneys...) MCBRUCE Acronym for: Makes Crazy Bids, Rebids, Underbids, Cuebids Effortlessly :D

blackest_k
Pro lower case. Prettier still if those underscores (_) can be removedit may be prettier without underscores however there is a reason why I have one I use pretty much the same user name across a number of systems which insist i log on with a user name of some sort. Its actually shortened on bridgebase but thats ok i type till i run out of space, incidently I don't use just one password I use three main passwordseasy , long and difficult. this reflects the security i feel i need to apply for a particular account. It's a practical way of keeping security issues to a minimum better than having apostit note a file on my system which lists my combinations of usernames and passwords or auto logon. I have enough to remember already :D warm regards John
QQSV
As one who uses an all uppercase name, I suppose I had better vote to be allowed to keep it! Serious thoughts: proper capitalization can make anything (be it a name or just ordinary writing) easier to read, if properly used. However, I don't tend to distinguish between capitalized and uncapitalized versions of things; thus, I hope that McBruce, mcbruce, MCBRUCE, mCbRuCe, and all the other variations would continue to be equivalent. (I would not enjoy having to memorize which variation was my friend and which was my enemy, were that the case!) --Q (Dick Wagman)
