Trpltrbl
I know the feeling, took me a long time to figure it out. Think it is the only thing that annoys me on BBO, and it luckily happens very seldom. Mike :P
Free
That's just the great thing of online nicknames: you can do stuff with I, i, l and 1 or with o, O or 0 :P That way, several people can have a similar nick... Lets keep it this way plz, then you can find who's "l33t" :D
spwdo
hi, try subbing such a player when its hectic, no lol,0O0 can be seen, the capital l and l cannot be seen and takes to much time when your invitations arent answered, u only get a message, player lll isnt repaced with player xyz, same as they refused the invitation thx marc
Gerardo
Guess this is a good reason for the all lowercase policy
Trpltrbl
I totally agree, when things are getting busy you don't have time to find out which is what. Mike :P
Rain
A quick fix is to change your font settings. Both Times and Verdana font have clearly distinguishable I and L Rain

blackest_k
try subbing such a player when its hectic, no lol,0O0 can be seen, the capital l and l cannot be seen and takes to much time when your invitations arent answered, u only get a message, player lll isnt repaced with player xyz, same as they refused the invitation.Isn't that more a problem of how the software works ? I have never run a tourny, but there are several ways the substitution could be done which wouldn't involve a director typing in a subs nick. 1)simple queue where subbing is first come first served, subs ordered in order of registration (could allow all subbing to be done automatically)problem being it wouldn't allow for different abilitys systems ect.unless you could specify terms perhaps american, intermediate, sayc 2)present subs in a list dbl click the sub required in a list and a request would be sent out automatically. 3)something else If you don't have to type the name the problem goes away. warm regards john
uday
Typing the name is only one way of finding a sub. The TD can use a list. THere is a slight functional difference Using List invites a sub to play Typing names drags him in, bypassing the confirmation screen. This can be used to drag in someone who is not on the sub list, or to speed up the process by a few seconds.
spwdo
hi yes, fully aware of the several options that can ce used but a player with a red nose isnt displayed in the substitutions list and thefore needs to be typed in manual, this is one of several examples wher u actually have to type in the name player involved marc
uday
What are the various reasons to make you want to type the names in?
Mirjam_3
Hi, Various reasons to have to type a name of one who has to be subbed: player seems online but isnotplayer is red but inviation failedplayer asking to be subbedplayer has to be subbed because of misbehave There are certain players i cannot sub manually quick for the reason spwdo told.. takes a lot of time to figure out spelling.. ILI is most fun.. had several laughs with it because how do i explain at the table i am trying to solve the problem: often i ask the partner how the name of his p is spelled and a LONG silence is there... a good thing pn BBO is ... most players have humor!!! JRG
Yes, I know I said it before. Yes, I know I have a lousy sense of humour. I think purposefully silly names with purposefully confusing combinations of letters and digits is silly and annoying. Now I know it also causes TDs grief. I know, I know, ... "Get a life!". Oh well.
