1eyedjack
How about colour coding the central part of the table/vul rectangle (top left of window) to indicate the presence of kibbitzers. Better yet, permanently display the number of kibbitzers. I am not keen on having, periodically, actively to float the mouse over the rectangle just to check whether there is someone present. Perhaps there is already a solution to that in place?
uday
There is currently no other alternative. I generally resist the addition of colors ( I think we have at least one too many colors already). But there ought to be a more passive way of getting this info. bglover
I personally dont mind way kibbitzers are now, but, as a suggestion, could that number be put in title bar (Host: Name Kibbitzers: #)?
Trpltrbl
Is it really that hard to slide pointer over, it will take all but 0.01 of a second to do some work. And why does it matter it there are any, or how many kibs, are you going to play different ? PLS there must be something wrong if this is all you can worry about :P Mike :D
1eyedjack
"Is it really that hard to slide pointer over, it will take all but 0.01 of a second to do some work." It is not hard. It is just hard to know to do it. And I don't want to be doing it every 5 seconds to test the result which should be displayed passively. "And why does it matter it there are any" There are any number of reasons. You could think of none. I shall provide just four: (1) They may include friends whom you would like to greet, if only you knew they were there. (2) They may include enemies whom you would like to avoid. (3) You may (heaven forfend) suspect your opponents of cheating by conversing with kibbitzers (that reason would not occur to me but it has been a concern expressed by others). (4) If you are sitting at a teble with three trusted friends, then what you say openly to the table and the way that you express it may depend on the presence and identity of kibbitzers. If, as you suggest, the presence of kibbitzers is irrelevant to the players, why would BBO go to the trouble of providing a method of identifying them at all? And the programming involved in actively listing the kibbitzers has to be on a different scale to the complexity of what I was suggesting. "PLS there must be something wrong if this is all you can worry about" Who said that I am worried or that is all I worry about? I have posted a number of suggestions. I simply keep each suggestion to a separate thread. Although programming priorities must be allocated on the basis of necessity v programming time, there is in principle no reason why one improvement should be either suggested or pursued to the exclusion of others. I suggest an improvement and leave it to others to assess its priority. Feel free to disagree that it is an improvement, and to express that disagreement, but to attack me for even suggesting it is going too far. I have posted a suggested improvement. To paraphrase you, it took of but 0.01 of a second to post the suggestion (perhaps a bit more. Considerably less than it took to respond to you). It is not a high priority for me, and I doubt that it is a high priority for the programmers, but (although I am not a skilled programmer) I speculate that it is not hard to implement. However, an improvement it is, in my opinion, and your (now proven) failure to imagine how it might be diminishes the impact of your attack. I have in fact since thought of a workaround: When playing click on the "Tables" button on the right to display tables in play, then scroll down so that your own table is displayed ... the number of kibbitzers should be displayed in a column to the right. I have not tested this yet, and I doubt it would work in a tourney even if it does in the main area.

It works
