I tend to agree with the other posters. If playing intermediate jumps 2 is a good choice. 4 is not my idea of a good call as you have defensive prospects and not exactly huge playing strenght in your suit. If not playing intermediate jumps, then I wouldn't beat my partner over the head if they doubled, but 1 seems better with a decent long suit. Doubling then bidding a suit normally shows a hand somewhat better than this.

1 clearly. We hold two aces, have not that good a 7 carder so I ask anyone contemplating 4 what are you preempting against ?

 

4 deserve to miss a laydown slam here. If you may belong in a pointed suit, pd can introduce one with a fair hand after 1
