TimG
MP, n/n, you hold ♠Axx ♥KT98xxx ♦AT9 ♣--, 1♣ on your right. This is probably something of a style question, but I'm curious: 1♥ or 4♥ or something else?
TylerE
Mark me for 1♥. 2♥ if playing intermediate jumps. Can tolerate treating this as a takeout double too. We might very well belong in ♦ or ♠.
Guest Jlall
1H, this is definitely the wrong type of hand for 4H imo.
NickRW
I tend to agree with the other posters. If playing intermediate jumps 2♥ is a good choice. 4♥ is not my idea of a good call as you have defensive prospects and not exactly huge playing strenght in your suit. If not playing intermediate jumps, then I wouldn't beat my partner over the head if they doubled, but 1♥ seems better with a decent long suit. Doubling then bidding a suit normally shows a hand somewhat better than this. Nick
jtfanclub
Looks like a 1♥ to me. I play "power doubles", but this doesn't qualify.
neilkaz
1♥ clearly. We hold two aces, have not that good a 7 carder so I ask anyone contemplating 4♥ what are you preempting against ? 4♥ deserve to miss a laydown slam here. If you may belong in a pointed suit, pd can introduce one with a fair hand after 1♥ 1♥
jdonn
I've been bidding 4 a lot more than I used to on these 1 or 4 problems, but this really seems like an obvious 1. We will make a great dummy in several suits, and have very good defense.
P_Marlowe
1H. The suit quality is terrible, if we can make4H partner will move. With kind regardsMarlowe
inquiry
4♥ would never even occur to me as a possible bid with this hand.
cherdano
Count me in among the 1♥ bidders. I would like to add that I also prefer it to a 2♥ intermediate jump overcall, even if that is available.

pclayton
1H opposite a unpassed pard, but I like 4 if pard has passed. We will frequently make 10 tricks opposite a scattered 7 count.
andy_h
1H for me. 4H seems a bit heavy and wouldn't occur to me.

effervesce
1♥ - the hand can play in 3 suits.
