be nice to be able to upload a hand to, say, IAC room, and be able to run through alternative plays, either double dummy or with gib or anyone playing the other hands. 'spose i could buy a local software to do that.. anyone know of one that'll read .lin files?

thanks for the suggestion; i tried it, but was only allowed to choose hands from 1 vugraph tournament or 3 teaching scenarios. i couldn't figure out how to choose hands from BBO's vugraph records of my previous games. as you may guess from my name, i make lots of mistakes, but that doesn't mean i don't want to learn from them.

one of the yellow people told me it was a TD issue. i hadn't realised TDs had issues, i thought they were perfect beings.

right, just like finding my old games online, and then i can watch a replay with vugraph, but... call me stupid, but... i still can't see any way to play the hand a different way (and my mind is not big enough to remember more than 7 things at a time).

....wait! i've got it !!

i look at the deal on my aged pc, take out a deck of paper playing cards, distribute them around a wooden surface covered with green baize, and then.... and then...

thanks so much for your advice ;)

Jillybean2 has already shown you where to find the .Lin movie files for your played hands (assuming you accepted the default path when installing BBO client - I have no doubt you are capable of finding them otherwise).

So you log onto BBO. Create a teaching table. Sit in all the seats yourself. Click on Movie. Click on "Open". Browse to your saved Lin File. Open the Lin file. Find the hand you want and click "Send". That will post the required hand back to the teaching table. Now you can play the cards in any order that you wish, and switch on GIB's double dummy analyser at any time.

hi jack and jill (is that a coincidence?),

i got as far as MOVIE. but the "Open" tab was dulled. it did, however offer to Save the blank board it was showing :)

i have a feeling the yellow person was correct, it's a TD feature/issue.

your wish to assist is nonetheless much appreciated.

may peace be with you always

I have no TD rights, and have no problems with this feature, even after sitting at the table, so that should not be the answer.

If you can only see a blank board, and if the "Open" option is greyed out, then I think that the most likely explanation is that you have inadvertently NOT set the table in "Teaching" mode.

When you start a new table you are given the option to select the type of scoring, such as IMP, Matchpoints etc. One option is "Teaching". Are you sure that you selected that? If so then I also am lost as to where the problem lies.

Maybe you should stick with this.

Give me a yell when you see me on BBO and I will show you how I do it. You do not need TD rights or any magic powers.

Jack, you may have only one eye, but it is sharper than both of mine. great, i can do everything i was asking for.

thanks again to both of you - wait, all 3 of you! - for taking the trouble to help; i will try hard to learn something from my previous errors so you won't have been wasting your times.

thanks again :)
