JoAnneM
According to the Detroit Board minutes the 2007 Bridge Laws take effect for the ACBL in September 2008. Those changes are in the minutes, and they are also at ecats bridge site but does anyone know if there is going to be any "easy to read" publication of the new laws for directors. It doesn't seem like there is much time left and I bet that most club directors don't even know that there are new laws and when they take place. I am a club director and my club manager hasn't said a word. If I didn't read things on the internet I wouldn't have a clue.
Hanoi5
Just read the important ones before the manual for director's comes out.
blackshoe
I sent a letter to the editor of the bulletin yesterday with some concerns about the new laws and the new convention charts (which go into effect in July, iirc). Mr. Manley replied that I had sent my letter to the wrong person — I guess he doesn't think his readers are interested in these questions — and forwarded it to Rick Beye and Gary Blaiss. Gary tells me that my questions "are being discussed with the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Commission". Rick tells me that no final draft of either the new laws or the convention charts has yet been submitted for printing - they are still being edited. Brent (Manley) says the new law book "will be published prior to the Summer NABC" and that "an article on how the changes affect players will be published in the July issue of the Bridge Bulletin." IMO the ACBL's interest in getting the word out on things like this out to club owners and directors is nil, or damn close to it. Over on the IBLF, we have a forum for the new laws. You might take a look. Feel free to post your questions and concerns, too. B)

At least they publicized the important issues, like the electronics ban.
