Vuln. against not, your hand:

A,10

J,7,5

K,J,6,4,2

K,5,2

the bidding goes:

Pass, partner:1, pass, you:2, pass, partner:2, pass, you:2NT, pass, partner:3 ....

1. do you agree with the bidding of the hand so far?

2. is partner's 3 forcing?

3. what to bid, if it is?

1. do you agree with the bidding of the hand so far?

It depends, are you playing 2/1 or sayc. If sayc, yes, if 2/1 maybe.

2. is partner's 3♠ forcing?

Don't care, i am not passing. My feeling is after 2NT here, it is forcing.

3. what to bid, if it is?

I am bidding 4.

2/1 GF - ur 2nt is ovious and 3sp is oviosly GF showing 6 card suit.

syac - i would still bid 2nt, because i dont like the hand too much, 5-2 spades and 4-3 hearts, still with half a point more u would have to find another bid because 2nt isnt forcing, probebly 3cl 4th suit forcing. i spades show 6 spades, i dont think it is forcing here, but u still have to bid 4sp. (dont think of biding 3nt if u want to keep playing with this partner a club lead will come and it might be nasty.

Deflation of the requirements for an opening bid rears it's ugly hand here. Players are opening any old 12 point hands now, and I've had to inflate my forcing NT responses. I solve the problem by starting with 1NT, planning to give myself a boost on the second round. If partner shows any life, we have game.

Another thought along these lines. I like an opening bid of 1NT with the shown hand, so when I rebid NT, I'm showing a hand even Alvin Roth would open.
