You are South. This is not a good problem as there are only two answers (imo), but that hasn't prevented my partner and I having the mildest disagreement about the best reopening call.

If it matters, you are the pleb at the table as everyone else has a star.

I think the only call is X.

So do I.

There was a hand at the S4s where we were the only pair I know about not to go for an 800+ penalty when a similar (ish) hand did not reopen with a double at the 1-level.

OK, I'm convinced.

In reality i never got the chance to make the decision as RHO bid 4 and we eventually took +500 from 4-X (down 3).

Partner, holding Qxxxxx AJxxx - xx, now believes his pass was wrong and he should have simply bid 2.

in the other room, my hand had a different bidding problem after 1-(1)-1 - (5). The selection was 6 and this went one down.

I think his pass is fine, he should just not pass a reopening X. Bidding 2S with that many hearts is asking for trouble.

Double. Some very good players subscribe to the theory that one should not double with a void. Although it would be nice to have one to shoot through declarer at some point, my philosophy is:

'The fewer I have, the more partner has if he passes.'

I think it's more: "The fewer I have, the more likely is opps have that extra card I should have because there's 2 of them and only 1 partner!!!"

Last time I didn't reopen with a double holding shortness, I held:

AJ754

3

AT9642

2

Both vul, the auction began: 1 - (1) - P - (P); ?

So I reopened with 1.

Partner held Q93 AQJ984 75 A8

Note I still would reopen 1 if I had to do it over again and on the hand from the OP, I think it's a completely clear Double.

What's the problem? opps have 10 clubs and 4th player probably won't leave it at 1 X. Your 1 is totally fine.

Even better would be to OPEN 1 :)
