Jump advance to TO double

Recommended Posts

If dbl shows spades, we have two cuebids available, don't we? Anyone who have assigned meanings to those two cuebids?

It's normal (well, fairly normal from round here) to play that

1H x 1S...

x = exactly 4 spades, values to compete to the 2-level (or 5 spades too strong to bid 2S or 3S at once)

2S = natural, 5 spades

3S, 4S = also natural

The cue bid tends to deny 4 spades, so takes the place of a responsive double

When RHO ostensibly has shown 4 cards in your suit it's quite important to know the size of your fit: there's a huge difference between a 5-4 fit breaking 4-0 and a 4-4 fit breaking 4-1 or 5-0.
