JanM
At the Cavendish, we had a webcam at each Vugraph table. I was wondering if people liked them. And also if anyone knows anything about what kind of webcams are best. Also software for them.
inquiry
I liked them.. i liked them more once i figured out which seat was north (just took a round when someone i knew showed up at the table). If streaming video could happen rather than once every 80 seconds that would be good.....
JanM
I think it was actually every 30 seconds - streaming video is *very* bandwidth intensive, especially with a lot of people watching. I'll try to remember to state the fact that the camera is facing North under the picture, if that can be done (haven't looked at software yet). DrTodd13
It is too bad more people don't use it but there is something called the MBone where you can multicast events like this. It solves the bandwidth issue.
uday
I don't know what I'm talking about - but i saw references to the following sites in some article somewhere. I think these sites claim you can just plug in a webcam and start a broadcast. Don't know what their limits are, and for that matter, I've never used any of them. http://www.blogtv.com/ http://www.stickam.com/ http://www.justin.tv/ http://www.ustream.tv/ http://live.yahoo.com/
HedyG
i think seeing the players during a broadcast is great!for some reason the pictures did NOT update on my PC and i had to it myself every ...seconds. that was less good.we have had broadcasts in the past where the pictures automatically updated every 30 seconds and that was excellent! Walddk
we have had broadcasts in the past where the pictures automatically updated every 30 seconds and that was excellent! Norwegian Summer Festival at Lillehammer, courtesy of Paal Fondevik. Not the first time the Norwegians have introduced new features. Not only are they great players, they also have brilliant programmers. Another is Per Nordland. Not bad for a country with a population of just 4.5 million, less than the state of Michigan. At least Michigan can be proud of the Detroit Red Wings. They will go all the way now! Roland
PeterGill
I thought the webcams at the Cavendish were good. Next year, perhaps a NORTH sign on the curtain behind the North player would help to identify the players.
