awm Posted May 16, 2008 Report Share Posted May 16, 2008 The FISU qualifying event is mentioned several times on the schedule for the Las Vegas nationals, but specific start times are never given. I am coaching the UCLA bridge team, and those students who are US citizens are forming a team for this event -- however they need to book their return flights from Vegas (one of them wants to be able to get to work at his summer job on Monday) and it would be helpful if they could find out the start/finish times. JanM Posted May 16, 2008 Report Share Posted May 16, 2008 I haven't discussed this with the ACBL organizers, who will be providing playing space and directors, but my guess (definitely only a guess) is that we'll be on the normal NABC schedule - 1:00 and 7:30 starts. We'll have screens, so that means we may need to start at 1:00 and 8:00 (but Juniors play fast, so maybe not). I realize that probably makes it tough for your players to get a flight out after the end of play on Sunday, and I'm sorry about that. awm Posted May 16, 2008 Author Report Share Posted May 16, 2008 "Easy" drive may be something of an overstatement -- it is over four hours from UCLA to Las Vegas assuming the traffic is light (and driving through LA when the traffic is bad can easily add another hour or two). And the traffic coming back from Vegas on Sunday night is particularly lousy (guess why). But yes, it is drivable. And it's a short flight.
