Is 3H a "free bid"?

You hold T763 A93 K632 62

RHO deals and opens 1, and you pass. MPs, love all.

1 – P – P – dbl

2 – dbl – 2 – 3

P – ?

1) Do you agree with your double?

2) What do you do now?

1) I prefer 2.

2) I am confused. If my dbl shows something in both majors and partner's dbl shows the same, how can LHO bid spades? Did he think that my dbl was penalty? Anyway, partner must have a very good hand with 5+ hearts. With a classical t/o dbl and extras he would have doubled 2. I think 3 is not quite forcing and with this minimum it may be right to pass. I bid 4 just in case p intended 3 as forcing :)

#1 I dont play responsive, so I would have bid 2S.

Depending on the meaning of the X, the 3H is not a

freebid, it just shows comp. values, as long as the x

promised some hearts.

#2 Pass, if we miss game, thats too bad, but on the plus

side we found a hand to fine tune our agreements.

With kind regards

Marlowe

1. Your double is a penalty double, not responsive. What would I do with my 10 count and KQTx of clubs, you pass first, and dbl or you could have been sitting for partner's reopening double. So I could not double here responsive. I would choose to bid 2S. So what if I am in a 4-3 fit?

2. Now that I have buried myself with an auction that I don't have. I will bid 4 since I am wrong.
