TimG
(1♦)-1♠-(P)-1N(P)-2♣-(P)-2♦ Is 2♦ an offer to play? Nothing special about the 1♦ opening.
kfay
Must be.
P_Marlowe
Hi, No, ... but it may depend on your partnershipstyle / agreement. For me, diamond is their suit, and I usually wont want to play in their suit, unless we have specifically agreed it. For me, 2D would show a strong club raise, the 1NTbid could be based on 8-12HCP with a diamond stopper,i.e. the 1NT bidder can still hold a hand, which has interest in game. With kind regardsMarlowe
jdonn
Yes, and obviously so IMO.
whereagles
Pard probably wouldn't bid 2♦ unless it was to play. He has a bucket load of strong bids if he wants to make one.
pclayton
To play. I might go so far to say even 3♦ is to play. The only way we can encourage with a big undisclosed club fit is to raise.
inquiry
It is natural, showing willingness to play in diamonds.
