With most of the HCP located, ♠K is either with partner or onside and partner will have most of his cards and values in the minors.

I want LHO to lead (because he does not know where his partner has values).

 

If I bid 2♥ LHO has a cheap dbl to show his ♥ length and it is save, even with 0 HCP, because it is transfer. If LHO does not dbl, RHO knows that LHO does not have significant length in the majors and can assume a minor fit. So RHO can bid 3/4m on his own.

Transfer to spades. Certainly not pass - wouldn't be surprised at all if the opps had 7+ top tricks from the start. If RHO bids diamonds, 4♠ should be decent. If he doesn't, I'll settle for inviting.

If partner superaccepts 4♠ is obvious, but at the table I would probably just bid 4♠ next anyway.

 

Passing is asking for a score like -600 or -1000 when they run the diamonds.

Transfer and game. RHO seems likely to hold a bunch of diamonds, so our singleton is very key. Barring that, pard will be able to play this DD.

 

Passing (redoubling) deserves to see six diamonds and an ace cashed when we are cold for 4♠.

Is LHO going to sit for the XX with something like xx xxx Qxxxx Qxx? Since double isn't purely penalty, I expect not. If LHO has much more and thus is willing to sit for the double, the chances that RHO has some source of tricks goes up (because his 15+ or equivalent is likely the "or equivalent"). If the opponents sit for 1NXX, they are likely right. So, probably best to start describing your hand immediately and pass on the apparent opportunity to make a cheap game and score some redoubled overtricks.

It is not at all clear that having the strong hand on lead is an advantage for us. The strong hand may know what to lead. LHO may have a pure guess.

4♠ letting the weak hand lead gets the nod by a tad to transferring and bidding game which is only slightly ahead of transfer and invite.

 

Can I bid 3 1/2 ♠ and then flip a coin as to who I want to lead ?
