awm
3NT makes no sense. Why bid stayman if you're just going to bid 3NT when a major suit fit is found? North is right to think this shows spades.... While I think the blame goes to south, who made the worst bid of the auction, I don't really agree with north's 6NT call either. When partner's bidding crazy like this it's best to just pass; he has already run from both potential major suit fits in order to try 6♣, let him play there doubled (and at least he has to play it!) jtfanclub
I don't get 6♣ either. Hey, you fooled them into doubling 5♥! Congrats! I think North showed enormous patience. :)
vuroth
I'm not sure I "get" 6NT. That said, I can't divine a sane explanation for south's bidding. (But what do I know?)
jillybean
South 100% perhaps they thought 3nt showed a gf hand with ♥'s else it makes no sense.

han
Yep, south bid like a chicken without a head.
Apollo81
Perhaps an explanation for South's bidding is that he meant to bid 3♠ splinter (or generic strong raise) rather than 3NT, but he pulled the wrong card =) Given that explanation, the rest of South's bidding actually makes sense! 3/4 blame to 3NT and 1/4 blame to 6NT, for the reasons Adam said. kenrexford
Assign the blame? How hard is that? I cannot give North any charge. Here's why, from North's perspective. Any partner who pulls 4♠X to a 4-3 heart fit one level higher, and then panicks and bids his 5-card minor at the six-level, with 4315 pattern, will not play 6♣ right. inquiry
South's bidding rates as one of the craziest I have ever seen. I simply give him all the blame. End of story.

Wth was 3NT? Lol Maybe he thought it was "Serious"????
Mbodell
I think North gets the 100% blame for this hand and the rest of the hands played this session. I think this would be a good hand for transfer to clubs and bid hearts if you have that in your methods. Bidding Stayman planning to bid 3NT over 2♠ and else explore a heart or club game doesn't seem bad either. But 3NT over 2♥ is crazy.

Wth was 3NT? Lol Maybe he thought it was "Serious"???? Yes and for me it means I'd seriously be looking for a new PD for the next event. OK N doesn't have to bid 6NT but based on the bidding and the fact that S ran from 5♥x, and many think that there's no way N can sit for what should be an auto double of 6♣ since the 6 level is the first time S mentioned them in a natural context ! however .... 90% South's fault as I don't bid 6NT as N since it's clear to me that I've basically bid my hand allready with my 3 bids and perhaps S has missclicked (or pulled the wrong cards out of the bidding box) Thus I"ll let S run from the penalty doubles as I have little idea what he holds. .. neilkaz ..
