badderzboy
Hand 1 Bidding to date - you open 1♠ and partner bids 2♥ then RHO doubles (showing the minors) What do you do holding? [hv=d=s&v=n&s=sqj8643hdq54cakq8]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Hand 2 Bidding to date Pass - Pass - Pass - 1♦ by ptr - 3♥s by RHO (who did pass originally) What do you bid holding? [hv=d=s&v=n&s=sqj8643hdq54cakq8]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Hand 3 (Playing a Weak NT so 1NT rebid shows 15-16). Bidding so far (no opps bidding) 1♦-1♠-1NT(15/16) What do you bid holding? [hv=d=s&v=n&s=sqj8643hdq54cakq8]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Thanks for the input! Steve
whereagles
1. Rdbl for penalties. Opps stepped into a hornet's nest. 2. Dbl. Given RHO's delayed entry, pard probably has a heart stop, so he won't have a problem bidding NT if he hasn't got spades. Best of all, he can PASS our dbl :o 3. Easy 3♣, which is game forcing. If pard now bids 3♦ (a stop, I guess), we can bid 3♠ to propose the 5-2 fit.
Finch
1. How forcing was 2H? Redouble is certainly tempting, although playing 2Hxx is less so. 2. 3NT. Someone has to bid it. 3. Whatever my way of forcing to game is. 3C if nothing artificial available.
Codo
1. 2 Spade, XX would be nice if they run, but horrible if they won't. 2. Pd does not own just a 11 HCP 3343 hand, so game is on. I try 3 NT. 3. What is the problem? Isn't 2 Club some kind of nmf or checkback? If not, imply it into your system and try 3 Club for the moment. effervesce
1) XX - yes it may be quite swingy - I doubt RHO will pass this out.2) X and 3NT are both reasonable.3) Whatever your checkback/NMF bid is. Even without checkback/NMF, 2♣ is the normal bid...
Apollo81
1. XX. The opps just made a serious error.2. 3NT. RHO's reason for not preempting earlier is probably because he has 4 spades.3. Depends on system. I would want to use a checkback bid, and all the better if I have a GF one like 2♦ in 2-way NMF.
P_Marlowe
Hi, #1 it is either XX, or 2S, I would go most likely with 2S The only thing I dont like about XX is, that we may play 2H, which may not be the best thing. #2 X, neg. #3 2C, as long as it is forcing, if not bid 3C, which has to be forcing in this case. With kind regardsMarlowe
P_Marlowe
1. XX. The opps just made a serious error.<snip> Maybe ..., but maybe they know what they aredoing and are able to play 2H. It would be easier, if we would know, that we wereplaying against a regular partnership or against apickup partnership. han
1. Redouble. 2. 3NT. 3. Checkback.
jtfanclub
I Don't get the XX on hand 1. I expect LHO to have 5+ hearts, and I expect pass is to play (2NT meaning "pick a minor"). Somebody's stepped in a hornet's nest, all right. I'm not playing in 2♥XX on a 5-0 fit. If the doubler has a singleton spade, your partner is going to have a hell of a time getting back to his hand. Partner could have 6 hearts or 7 hearts or 8 hearts too (actually last time I saw an auction like this he had 8). If he has 5 hearts then he may have 3 spades as well. Given RHO has a bunch of minor cards (and so do we) partner rates to have a bunch of hearts. Even if LHO wants to penalize 2♥, many people won't have discussed passes of redoubles, and I predict RHO will run to a minor in such a case. Alot of pairs also play pass = no preference, in which case RHO will bid their better minor. In any case, partner can ask what the pass means. If pass = to play in XX, partner can bid spades with spade support. Otherwise partner rates to have a heart stack.
pclayton
1. xx. This could be a possible misfit. This may get awkward if it continues 3♦ - pass - pass. I'm not doubling 3♦. If we were red / white, I think I'd just bid 2♠. 2. Double. I'm not keen on playing 3N with a single heart stop and no source of tricks. 3. Force to game. We have four possible strains to play in so go slow.
