Michele13
What is the purpose of totally blank player profiles? No name, no country, no system. :) Many do not reply when asked what system they play and far too many think that being completely annonymous allows them to quit tourneys and/or be rude. For tourneys, it should be a requirement as a minimum to display what system is played by every player. No one plays live bridge with a paper bag on their head :) so why allow it here? hrothgar
Michele You've been enrolled in the forums for more than a year. During this entire time, you've never bothered to fill out any kind of a user profile. You don't list your real name, you don't note where you live or your email address. You don't even mark what systems you like to play... Does this give you any perspective why people don't bother filling in profiles?

helene_t
People may have blank profiles because of lack of command of the English language, lack of fantasy, laziness, or a desire for privacy. It's their own business. Why should I care. Besides, most of those who do fill in their profiles only provide useless information like "expert, sayc, steighman". Gerben42
steighman". I start to worry when they write "Darkalleyman" Anyway, not writing anything in your profile just sends the message: "I don't want you to know me. So don't play with me. Don't even talk to me." Everyone's personal choice, I guess.

TimG
I've recently noticed some player profiles which have no flag. I can't figure out how to set my profile so that no flag appears (not even the United Nations flag). Is there a way to do this while still having a public profile? matmat
I sometimes leave my profile blank for the sole purpose of annoying people like the OP.
goobers
What about the profiles that display "No information available"... how does that happen? Did it not find a locally saved profile or something?
jtfanclub
What about the profiles that display "No information available"... how does that happen? Did it not find a locally saved profile or something? Based on when I get them, I *think* it means the system timed out when looking for profile info, due to the server being slow. Guest movingon
I enjoyed this thread. One of my regular partners has a blank profile, no system, no flag. While I play with other partners, he doesn't. I, do have some info in my profile. Not long ago, we ran into a player who stated, after we said "hello" and announced our system and carding agreements: "I am concerned when an opponent has a blank profile." I was a bit taken back by that statement and wasn't quite sure how to respond. (I knew that my partner sure wasn't going to dignify her statement with a response!) matmat
i much prefer the situation when both opponents have their profiles filled out with conflicting information. it helps a lot.
jillybean
Otoh blank profiles would reduce the number of sexist, racist comments and over inflated ego’s.Dull, but less abuse.

bb79
What about the profiles that display "No information available"... how does that happen? Did it not find a locally saved profile or something?Click options, then profile tab, there's a checkbox at the bottom that says "Allow other members to see your profile". If this is unchecked, "no information available" is displayed to other users.

Michele13
Gee Hrothgar...I learned something new thanks to you. Hadn't realized that we could fill out all sort of personal information in the forum profile. Well since I only want to play bridge - my bridge profile is there and I don't think that anyone needs my birthdate unless they want to send me a present. But I'm glad that it's there for those who want to use it. I just want to know a player's level and bridge system..... :)

1eyedjack
Hmm, well you won't find out much about their playing level from their profile, whatever you read there. (My playing is level is set to private, mainly so that I don't have to play against people who object to describing their level as private. I don't seem to find myself short of games.) System, maybe, although if there is nothing there it may be reasonable to assume at least a working knowledge of BBO standard as published in the help system. A possible reason may also be, that those players createdtheir account using the new flash version. My guess is, if you do it this way, you wont have a windows version installed on your computer. With kind regardsMarlowe PS: I doubt someone would seriouly delete a folder.
helene_t
Just delete your flag... In your BBO directory on your computer... Folder 'Flags' perhaps? :P Does that really work? I would expect my flags folder to be used for displaying other people's flags on my computer, not the other way round.

But I didn't test it on other people's profiles... I haven't deleted the entire folder, if you want to know, just try it :P
