If you open 1D and partner responds a major, you have methods available to show a GF with 3M-6D.
kenrexford
If I have methods, 2♣ seems OK. The methods I would need, however, would allow me to show six diamonds and four of a major. For example, if 2♣...3M showed 6♦/4M, I could instead bid 3♦ to deny a four-card major and allow partner thereby to show five-card majors. Without methods, 1♦. Fluffy
looks ike a 2 club opening, I will bid 2NT next.
dcvetkov
I think its close. I have 9 tricks, yes, but they are slow in hearts, I would like to have more control type A or K. I would open 2♣, only for the reason that there is no convinient GF revid after 1♠. If I can show 6m GF hand, that I open

Gerben42
I would open 2♣, if partner has nothing, maybe he has enough ♣ so that 3N makes...

ArtK78
1♦. To me, this hand is not strong enough for a 2♣ opening bid, especially with diamonds as the long suit.

So 2♣ is ok. I don't mind 1♦ on this hand though. You pays your money and you take your pick.
CSGibson
I hate to be a Walrus here, but that hand has 22 HCP. That means on average partner will have 6; there's a very good chance this gets passed out in 1♦ when all I need is a trick from partner (We don't bid constructively without 4 HCP as a responder despite the advocations of "respond with anything" sometimes found on this forum). I am bidding 2♣, and rebidding 3♦ next, then playing in partner's 5 card major or in 3NT, or slam, or whatever's right, having gotten this hand off my chest. jdonn
I think I'll go with 2♣. Sometimes people avoid this with diamonds, but the nice thing is with this exact shape we will never have any rebid problems after 2♣.
effervesce
2♣ for me.

I'm not so sure that the problem is rebids after 2♣, but what next after 3♦. That said, I'm glad to have methods to help.
skjaeran
I would open this 1♦, especially if I can later GF and show 3M-6♦. I have no big problem with 2♣ though. But prefer 1♦.

cherdano
If you don't open this one 1♦, you probably shouldn't be playing the gadget for showing a GF 6-3 hand. Not having this gadget, I would open this hand 2♣.
