1) Matchpoints, Red vs White, Third Seat

1 - (P) - 1NT - (2)

P - (P) - ?

What is your call? If you double, it will go (Rdbl)-P-(P) back to you.

2) Matchpoints, All Red, Third Seat

753 AKJT8 Q2 KQ8

2 - (P) - 2NT - (P)

3* - (Dbl) - 3 - (4)

P - (P) - ?

3 shows a bad hand with a good suit. Your call?

1) Double, as you suggested. When it comes back, pass is easy. It is not always so, but in this sequence, partners pass is penalty, regardless of the RD.

2) Pass. Seems easy, as I have a hard time imagining 10 tricks being availabble.

Edit: Hadnt read problem probably. In 2) I double, only because they are red in matchpoints. If they win 4, its likely to be a bad score anyway, while it is crucial to double, if they're one down.

Best Regards

1) I want 2NT here to be 2 places to play (minors). Can I have that, please?

2) Double. I see 3 tricks, maybe 4 or 5. Heck, partner might even lead a heart, miracle of miracles, or even own the ace of spades. This is a matchpoint double on my part, not making it at imps.

1. I double initially to show a good 1N call and want to compete and protect pard who might be sitting on a spade stack. Pard passes the redouble. This is very similar to the hand I posted a few weeks ago where they opened 4 and pard passes over xx. Pard could have run over the xx. I don't think I have anything more to say here.

2. This is a classic double to protect the partscore. We look like we are a lock for 3 and +100 is going to be awful. The opponents have done well to compete vulnerable and -130 is going to be as bad as +100.
