dcvetkov
[hv=s=sq9xh109xdkxc1098xx]133|100|[/hv] You have this hand and hear this bidding. You are vulnerable vs not LHO Pd RHO You1♦ 1♥ 1♠ PassPass? 2♣ 2♦ 3♣3♠ Pass Pass ?? What do you bid at IMP?What do you bid at MP?
Finch
The auction as written makes no sense to me at all LHO passed a 1S bid (which is played as forcing by 99% of the bridge-playing populaton), then bid 3S on the next round?

ArtK78
Pass at all forms of scoring. EDIT: (I would have bid 2♥ on the first round, too, but I am not proud of it). Edited April 9, 2008 by ArtK78

fromageGB
Me 2Me2 But given the question, Pass, any scoring. I don't know if LHO was asleep last round or whether his 3♠ is an overbid. Defence prospects do not look promising, but declaring seems worse. You would either go off when they would too, or push them into a making game. matmat
i would probably pass the first time, but then bid 2♥ over two diamonds and then likely balance in with 3♣ over the likely 2♠
skjaeran
Obvious 2♥ the first time to me. From then on the auction makes no sense at all.
fromageGB
Obvious 2♥ the first time to me. From then on the auction makes no sense at all.Sure. But the point is that you are in this situation and have to decide what to say after that 3♠ bid. Have you never been in the position of having to cope with opposition lunacy? You can't just say "I don't understand, so we'll abandon the board."

It's more the lack of a 2♥ bid than the opps stupid auction that's created a problem. I'd never face this.

And why support clubs instead of hearts over 2♦? 2♥ would keep the auction lower, and we might have been able to support clubs at the 3-level - letting partner know about our double fit. Now we've bid ourselves into a corner. I'd sooner rate our own bidding lunatic than the opps, btw, eventhough their auction is pretty weird. Codo
...and we might have been able to support clubs at the 3-level - letting partner know about our double fit. I agree with 2 Heart but there is no way to show the double fit with 3 Club after you bid 2 Heart first...
dcvetkov
About the auction, I think RHO was a passed hand.... so passing 1s may not ve so lunatic. 2H bid is certainly reasonable, but points are in opponents suit, and your hand is not so great. I think partner will expect more from free bid. But even after 2H, I think you will concede to 3S.
dcvetkov
This is the full hand ( approximate). As I see, most people agree with pass, despite double fit, there are lot of negatives like - your points are in opponents suit-we are vulnerable, and probably outgunned in MP.- bidding at 4 level may drive opponents into makeble 4s game, ( as you see, playing trump as percentage play, will pick up trumps w/o loss and all it takes to play diamonds for 1 loser.
