dicklont
3♠ Show my support and the value of the hand. I think 4♠ would be too much opposite a minimum hand. Partner will know what to do now. Maybe the heart suit gives us a slam though.....
Flameous
3♦ as splinter and then we'll see where to play. I have agreed to cuebid shortness in partners suit so if I hear ♥ cue from partner, I atleast know that we have to play in spades.

whereagles
I don't like 4♠. If dummy gets tapped at trick 2, all those hearts become worthless. 4♥ now.
Gerben42
[hv=n=sakj5ht4d74cak864&s=s9864hak87532d2c2]133|200|[/hv] Now you see both hands. Where do you want to be at MP? (and where at IMPs?) It was a hand from a BBO team match (Nuremberg vs Stuttgart) but ♥ were 2 - 2 and ♠ 3 - 2 with the Q onside so on a non-♦ lead you even make 7, but that wasn't the point... han
Pretty sure I'd end up in 4H.
Gerben42
Care to tell me how, Han? Previous posters suggested 3♠, 4♠, etc.
han
I cannot imagine raising spades with this hand, maybe I don't play enough matchpoints. I can see two possible bids: 4H and 2D (artificial GF). At the table I'd probably bid 4H.

paulg
I would have bid 4♥ on the first round. p
pclayton
3♥ at MPs, 4♥ at IMPs. We have a 4-4 fit? Didn't notice.
joker_gib
3♥ at MPs, 4♥ at IMPs. We have a 4-4 fit? Didn't notice. Yes, I do not see the ♠ fit... 4♥
Fluffy
agree with phil, I won't play in spades at any form of scoring.
neilkaz
I don't like 4♠. If dummy gets tapped at trick 2, all those hearts become worthless. 4♥ now. Good observation and the same for me 4♥
skjaeran
This really looks like a 4♥ bid to me, now or on the previous round.

Suppose you hold: xKQJTxxxxKxKx What do you suggest bidding over 1♠? Would you really have bid something other than 1♥ at your first turn to bid? Halo
I expect to play in 4H because I will bid it. Interesting to see conflicting hands (this isn't one) versus the accepted wisdom of playing in the relatively weak hand's seven card suit. ArtK78
This is a follow up to my prior post. Over partner's 1♦ opening, what do you bid with this hand: xKQJTxxxxxxxx As opposed to this hand: xKQJTxxxxKxKx
cherdano
I would bid 4♥ right away with the first one. With the second one I would bid 1♥, then 4♥.
jdonn
Isn't the second hand too good for 1♥ then 4♥? 3 aces one time pard? For Art: As for the method he plays that doesn't let him bid 1♥ then 4♥ on this auction unless he has four spades, I'm sure he makes use of this nifty "4th suit forcing" convention to get around the dilemma of what to do when he doesn't have spades.
