3♦ as splinter and then we'll see where to play. I have agreed to cuebid shortness in partners suit so if I hear ♥ cue from partner, I atleast know that we have to play in spades.

Doesn't a jump in the 4th suit show 5 - 5 in the reds?

Now you see both hands. Where do you want to be at MP? (and where at IMPs?)

It was a hand from a BBO team match (Nuremberg vs Stuttgart) but were 2 - 2 and 3 - 2 with the Q onside so on a non- lead you even make 7, but that wasn't the point...

[hv=d=n&v=n&s=s9864hak87532d2c2]133|100|Scoring: MP

1 - 1

1* - ?

* natural, unbalanced

What is your strategy?[/hv]

IMO 4 should systemically paint a clear picture of good and a fit

You are kidding, right?

Suppose you hold:

x

KQJTxxxx

Kx

Kx

What do you suggest bidding over 1?

Would you really have bid something other than 1 at your first turn to bid?

This is a follow up to my prior post.

Over partner's 1 opening, what do you bid with this hand:

x

KQJTxxxx

xx

xx

As opposed to this hand:

x

KQJTxxxx

Kx

Kx

Isn't the second hand too good for 1 then 4? 3 aces one time pard?

For Art: As for the method he plays that doesn't let him bid 1 then 4 on this auction unless he has four spades, I'm sure he makes use of this nifty "4th suit forcing" convention to get around the dilemma of what to do when he doesn't have spades.
