hammberry
Matchpoints, favorable vulnerability. I dealt myself: K9765, 85, KJT872, -- The bidding proceeded: Me LHO Part RHOPass - (1H) - dbl - (Pass)?? In fact, I bid 2S & over LHO's 3H, partner bid 3S What now? How should I evaluate this hand, assuming partnerhas values in clubs as well as the pointed suits?
whereagles
Pard may have a 18+ hcp hand with clubs. One has to be careful here, and probably the best would be to start with a cue. Then, if pard re-cues, he'll have the 18+ hand and you can start bidding suits. If he doesn't re-cue (like he did), then he's got a normal take out and you can bid 4♠. jtfanclub
I vote 4♦. 2♠ was not forcing, so partner shouldn't get that frisky. Every once in a while, I get lucky and we find a 22 point slam. The rest of the time, I haven't lost anything. The guy who gets the 'free' double is on lead anyways.
Cascade
I would have bid 4♠ the round before. There is a small danger that partner has some monster club single-suiter. Having bid only 2♠ I would cue-bid now. My style is to cue my lowest control so 4♣ but I fear that partner might misunderstand. 4♣, 4♦ or a simple 4♠ could work.
