You are vulnerable against not, playing a 48-board KO match with aggregate scoring.

RHO opens 2S, weak.

Your call.

Does it make a difference if you are playing board 25 and after 24 boards you were a fair amount down or a fair amount up (about 2400 or the equivalent of about 50 imps)?

3 for me.

I am guessing this goes for a number :P

State of the match is not relevant for me. Anyway, half the match is still to be played, and if we tighten up in an effort not to lose any IMPs, we are not playing our normal game - i.e. we are deliberately playing worse than usual - and I don't see that as a recipe for success.

Tempting to pass with a minimum overcall and a bad suit. The problem is that when we can make something (3NT most likely) partner may well have long spades and not be able to bid. Since I have the short spades I think I will have to bid.

3 but I would like to pass.

I would double in any case.

I see a point for passing over 3 if you think you are 2400 points up (since the 800/1100 disaster is more of a problem at aggregate than at IMPs).

If I were down, this wouldn't change my call, since I have no idea what the player at the other table is going to do (and I like my chances for a positive swing when I double and he bids 3 or passes).

IMO _P = 10, 3 = 9, _X = 5

We play that second hand actions are sound but this decision is a toss-up.

So close that if you are 2400 up, IMO you should pass.

Bur if you are 2400 down, you should bid.

This hand does not look like a one suiter, so I double.

I am the one with the shortage, I have to act, even if the suit is not good for an overcall and the shape not perfect for a double.

But passing this hand puts a lot of pressure on partner.

I would always double and don't care much about the state of the match.

Okay, with 10 imps up and playing the last board, I would pass.

Our team member in this position doubled, -470.

Their team member in the same position overcalled 3D.

We gained 30 aggregate points on the hand.

Pass is -110 or +50 depending on whether responder makes a game try or not.
