I know youre unfav, but it seems like you could open 2 at least. Maybe you're playing this as something else? Anyway I would open 3 and now I would xfer and pass.

Yeah, 2 is mini Roman.

?

Maybe I forgot something in the poll.  Let me know.

As opener, IMO 3 = 10, 4 = 8, _P = 6, 2 = 2.

Not vul, 4 = 10. Even if I played a weak 2, I don't think it shows this kind of hand :) In practice, pass worked well :) Now that I know that partner is strong with wasted values in my void, I would transfer and pass 3

OMGNO.

Anyway, partner has no idea what to do, but I'll probably still invite. There is some tendency for partner to reject with bad hands (two trumps, or gasp, even one) where I don't really want to be there and accept with good hands.

We are probably getting some sort of friendly club lead, so I wouldn't count partner's club values as wasted.

With this mess, I may go for a big number if I preempt 3 at these colors, but I'll risk it anyhow, although I have no criticizm for those who pass or try a weak 2 (noting 2 doesn't preempt that much, IMHO).

On the given auction, I transfer to and pass unless PD accepts and likes in which case I'll invite him to game in or just bid it if I feel a bit lucky.

This doesn't seem consistent to me.

If I open 3 and catch partner with a strong no trump then she will almost certainly bid game - perhaps 3NT. So when partner shows a strong no trump why am I not bidding a game if I thought my hand was worth 3 the first time.

3 to play.

If you choose to play it in 3, there is no reason to give them the chance to double an artificial bid.

Best Regards

I think if you open 3 you do so DESPITE the fear that partner might bid 3NT, which would be one of the worst developments. In fact you might even run.
